MT-09 850

The MT-09 is a motorcycle from the Japanese vehicle manufacturer Yamaha. The newly developed three-cylinder engine has a crank pin offset of 120 °. For reasons of manufacturing accuracy, the pistons are connected to the crankshaft via break-separated connecting rods and run in coated cylinders without bushings. The Yamaha MT-09 is the first multi-cylinder series machine from Yamaha in which all cylinders are slightly offset to the center of the crankshaft, which should result in less friction loss. The injection system works with 12-hole injection nozzles directly on the cylinder head of the four-valve unit. Adapted exhaust manifolds as well as different lengths of supply to the intake system support the power output. At the same time, the engine noise is optimized through the manifold guide and 3-in-1 exhaust system. The driver can switch between STD (standard), A (sport) and B (rain) modes by means of an adjustable control of the engine electronics, thus ensuring a different response behavior of the engine. In B mode, the engine responds more smoothly and loses 10 HP of maximum power. Centralization of the masses is achieved by using a central spring strut located under the seat, an upside-down fork, the rear silencer installed under the engine and light aluminum wheels. This concept, originally developed by Buell, leads to improved handling. The spring elements are adjustable in the rebound stage, with the Tracer the rear shock can also be changed in the compression stage. The choice of driving mode has no effect on the suspension setting (no electronically adjustable suspension). The seating position is upright and slightly front-wheel oriented. The multifunction display is digitally designed as a liquid crystal display and includes the speed and speed display as well as the time and a gear display. The fuel tank holds 14 liters (tracer: 18 liters), the manufacturer recommends the use of super gasoline E10. The Street Rally version has a small handlebar fairing, hand protectors, air scoops on the radiator and a higher seat. The Sport Tracker variant has special attachments, such as modified footrests, start number plates, short wheel covers and other extras. The Tracer model has a frame-fixed cladding that can be equipped with windshields of different sizes. In addition, an extended rear frame, height-adjustable seat and luggage rack. A larger tank and another instrument unit as well as a standard main stand are further distinguishing features. This increases the ready-to-use curb weight to 210 and the dimensions change slightly. The XSR was designed with a different tank, modified exhaust silencer, round headlights and a modified rear for a so-called retro appearance. This variant can be individually modified by the owner using a large selection of accessories. From 2016, the electronics were supplemented as standard with a two-stage traction control. In addition, the driving modes have been revised and adjusted differently. Extensive changes in design and technology have been made. Except for the engine, which is largely unchanged. A new exhaust system was designed to meet the requirements of the EURO-4 exhaust standards. The engine mappings for the driving modes (1 / hour / 2) have been adapted and roughly correspond to the last update of the RN29 in which the throttle response was made softer and more homogeneous. The shock absorber, which was previously perceived as too soft, was replaced by a firmer one and the suspension fork is adjustable in preload, as well as in rebound and compression. The front mask has a more aggressive design and is attached lower, which means that the speedometer also moves a little forward and can therefore be read better. Dipped, main and side lights are implemented using LED technology. The front indicators are no longer part of the front mask and are now located on the side of the newly designed radiator grille. The rear was adapted to the new design and the rear light integrated. The license plate holder was also mounted on the swing arm. There are other minor changes to the plastic cover of the clutch bell, as well as the heel protector of the right footrest system. The Quickshifter (only high) is now standard from the factory. For the model year 2018, the gray color choice "Night Fluo" is now silk matt and darker. Since 2018, the MT-09 has also been available in the SP version with a further improved chassis and a special paint finish in typical blue / silver Yamaha.
